Moseley Named to Cav Futures Board of Directors
Federal Labor Relations Specialist Joins Team of UVA Alums Supporting NIL Collective
Kimberly Moseley, executive director of the Federal Service Impasses Panel (FSIP), has been named to the Cav Futures Board of Directors. Moseley (originally Duke) is a 1988 UVA graduate who competed on the track and field team and for years held a top-10 record in the 400-meter hurdles (60.09 in 1987).
"We are excited to bring Kimberly on the team to share her experience, passion and desire to assist our UVA student-athletes in their pursuit of Lifetime Branding," says Lo Davis, executive director of Cav Futures. “Kimberly’s background and love of UVA will help us guide the long-term support of community activism, marketplace education, career development, and professional networking opportunities in our student-athletes.”
“As a UVA student-athlete alum, parent of a UVA student-athlete alum, parent of a former Division I student-athlete, and parent of a current D-1 student-athlete, I appreciate the unprecedented opportunity NIL creates for student-athletes across the country, opening the door for them to monetize their name, image, and likeness,” Moseley says. “But this opportunity can mean so much more in the long run for student-athletes, providing an opportunity for them to constructively build and protect their brand, improve their relationship with the community and among the fan base, and even explore career interests without jeopardizing their playing eligibility. I am excited for the opportunity to play a small part in helping UVA student-athletes build their future.”
Moseley’s experience in federal-sector labor relations is broad and deep. She has worked on both sides of the table – labor and management. At the FSIP, Moseley provides leadership and supervision to members of the panel, which is organized under the U.S. Federal Labor Relations Authority. The panel resolves impasses between federal agencies and unions representing federal employees that stem from negotiations arising under various federal laws. She also makes recommendations to FSIP members on negotiation disputes between federal agencies and labor organizations.
Prior to her role, Moseley was a deputy assistant secretary for labor-management relations at the Department of Veterans Affairs. She has also served in various senior-level positions within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Education. Moseley holds her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in communications from UVA.
Moseley joins UVA student-athletes Ron Carey ’90, Doug Duenkel ’92, Henry “Hank” M. Dudgeon, III ‘95, Matt Link ’97 (all football), and Stephanie Garcia ’10/’12 (track and field) on the Board of Directors. Cavalier Futures also has a growing Advisory Board that includes Ralph Sampson ’83, Brian Socolow ’90, Drew Fox ’94, Matt Schaub ’03, Dana Boyle ’14/’15, and Kyle Guy ‘19.
